Abstract

The intellectual movement in the city of Hilla was distinguished by its dynamism and vitality, as it produced a number of eminent and distinguished scholars who emerged from long-established scholarly families and excelled in various fields of knowledge. This movement contributed effectively to the enrichment of Islamic thought, particularly as it occasionally took the initiative in creativity and innovation. The Al-Mahfouz bin Weshah family played a major role in supporting the scientific movement in Hilla, both at the scholarly level and in religious leadership, after it became an established intellectual pillar within the broader framework of Arab-Islamic intellectual thought.
