Abstract

This research examines the pivotal role of universities in promoting sustainable development, a concept that integrates economic, social and environmental dimensions to address current global challenges. As key knowledge centers, higher education institutions are under pressure to produce graduates equipped with the skills and understanding needed to promote sustainable practices. This study highlights the importance of integrating sustainability into university curricula, operations, research and community engagement. The study draws on a broad range of literature to illustrate how universities can act as catalysts for sustainability, emphasizing the need for comprehensive strategies that address organizational, operational and educational frameworks.
